Production - Dancing through the decades

Last night was our production called dancing through he decades. This was the chance to let our inner power shine and to have a great time. I performed in 2 performances, Kapa Haka and my group dance with others in my class. The song we are dancing to is staying alive. I have enjoyed working towards this day since the day we started practising our dances.  I would like to give a big thank you to Zoe our dance teacher for making this all happen and letting us have the chance to be in the spotlight. Prepare to dazzle in the moon light.

Shot Types - The Princess Bride

A few weeks ago our class watched the movie called The Princess Bride. While watching the movie, we were doing film study. One activity that we had to do was focus on the shot types they are showing us in the film, and what it means. There are different types of shots that are used in movies. One shot type I found more interesting was low angle shot. I never knew the meaning behind this particular shot. The low angle shot points up to a character to show that someone is powerful etc. I would defiantly do this again next year.

KiwiCan - Sports

Today was the last session of kiwi can for Term 3. We played hand soccer, 10 down and objects. I had a lot of fun playing these games because everyone was supportive and playing the right way. Thank you to Mr Malu and Ms Latioa for making kiwi can possible this term. My favourite game was 10 down.

Cross Country - 2nd Place

Last week our school had cross country over at Dunkirk park. All of our hard training lead to this day. The juniors from year 1 to 3 did one lap around the track that the head leaders and Mr Oglive kindly set up for us as we were having our lunch and playing. The years 4 did 2 laps and the rest of us did 5 laps around the track. When it was the year 7 and 8 girls turn to run I was really nervous to run. When we started to get ready I felt butterflies in my stomach. But once Mr Johnston said ready, set, go there was no going back. As the run came to a end I came second. Since there was only 4 year 7 girls I thought might as well make the most of it so I did. Overall the places were Tiava 1st, Me 2nd, Ofa F 3rd and Magenta 4th. It was a good race that I really enjoyed.

Cross Country Inter-Schools

Yesterday I went to cross country inter-schools. I was really nervous to run because I was a little worried that I would forget the track or hurt myself but I enjoyed running. At least what I could do. I had to stop the second round because I hurt my foot really bad and had to go to the sick bay. Besides that it was fun.

Elections - What Is A Coalition?

Today Nazella, Sa Kae, Hajera and I were learning about what coalition is and how it will affect the NZ Parliament.  Coalition is when a smaller Political Party joins with a bigger to increase the amount of seats they have in Parliament.

Political Parties

A few days ago our class was looking at political parties here in New Zealand. Nazella, Savelina, Brooklyn and I worked together to create a slide show about Helen Clark and what she did as a prime minister. We used our smart searching skills to find out facts and more about this important lady. We have done this to our best of our ability.  Fun fact about Helen Clark. She was the 5th longest prime minister to stay in parliament. She cares about people and has always has a positive smile. This was apart of the elections that are coming the Saturday.

Political Parties

Our main focus this week is political parties. Today my group Nazella Savelina Brooklyn and I made A DLO on prime Minsters and which party they support.

Read an ebook day

Today is Read an ebookday. Our classroom chose a book off the Tamaki College Overdrive site to celebrate modern storytelling. On the Overdrive site, there are a lot of different varieties of books you can chose from. From humour, action, science fiction and loads more. I have enjoyed reading books from the Tamaki College Overdrive and exploring new books. The current book I am reading right now is Mr Mingin. #EBOOKLOVE

Say It Tika Say It Right

This week is Maori language week. Vodafone and google maps have partnered up on a website called say it tika. Google maps sometimes have trouble saying Maori places here in New Zealand. I chose to do Opahi where I am from because tourist always get this place wrong. I did two other places to like Taupo and Whakamaru. Kia Kaha New Zealand keep our native language true.

Netball Prises - Runner Up

Today at assembly the girls who singed up for after school netball were finally given there certificates for coming 2nd in our grade. This was great to have came 2nd because we have had only won four games but it was all worth it in the end. I have enjoyed playing and representing Panmure Bridge School this year during the netball season. This was our netball team for 2017.

Winning The Curriculum Survey Prise!

Today at assembly I won a prise. In that prise there was lots of things that I could use to make me breakfast tomorrow morning. This was an big surprise and I didn't expect for me to win. Mr Johnston brought a green hat with all the names of people who bought back there curriculum surveys to be in the draw to win. Luckily I was that one person who won. I have never won any prise draws from any school I have been to except for prise giving two years ago. Hooray for me and the others who gave it there best.

Tech At Tamaki College - Spaghetti Pies

This morning we had tech at Tamaki College. Savelina, Sky and I  made Spaghetti pies. The ingredients we needed was spaghetti, cheese, bacon and pastry that you have already made or store bought pastry will do. This task was semi hard because some of the pastry that we made wasn't big enough so it wouldn't fit in the muffin tray. We have had fun creating the pies and cleaning up that was fun. Next week is and adventure because we have no idea what we are making until next time.

Tamaki Library Overdrive - Mr Mingin

This afternoon we went on the Tamaki Library site so we could read books that we thought were enjoyable enough to read. As we are not going to our school library for the rest of this term this was an great opportune to read something different. This book hooked me in right away because of the introduction. I was amazed by this book. If I had to give this book an rating it would have to be a 4 out of 5 stars because the book cover was really funny. I am currently on chapter 5 and happy to keep going until I finish the book. This book I think the main character was a little girl because of the writing. Most of the writing was correct but some of it not so much. I would recommend reading this book because this is a child friendly book.

Kiwi Can - Taking Risks

This moring we did Kiwi Can. Our topic this week was taking risks. Our Kiwi Can teachers Mr Malu and Miss Latoia talked to us about taking risks and what they meant? For our energiser we played a game called bip bop bounce. How you play this game is just like playing bang. There is someone in the middle that person will be saying bip bop bounce. That person can mix the words up however they want. Then the people playing have to say bang. But there is a catch, you have to say bang after the caller says bounce but you cant say it after they say the phrase because that may lead in elimination. After we finished our energiser we played hand soccer. The risks of playing this game is scraping your fingers on the ground falling over and trying to get a goal for your team. We all enjoyed playing this game. I saw a lot smiles and support from one another from both groups. Wacthing others have fun was fun to see.

Read Theory

This morning I did Read Theory. Read Theory helps us with our knowledge on what we read. This site has helped me on stretching the vocabulary in what I have read in a book or online. I learnt a new fact in a story I read. I learnt that there are little animals in out toothpaste called Plantimals which I think is pretty cool. This site is great for people that want to read but don't have the time to pull out a book. I have come a long way from the first time I saw this site. I can only get better at what I do. I look forward to using this site more as the year goes on.

New Tech Rotation!

Today at Tamaki College we finally started our new tech rotation for this term. We made Oreo milkshakes. Savelina, sky and I were one group. We all had job to pro fill. Savelina's job was to dry the dishes, Sky's job was to pack away the dishes and finally mine was to wash. We did a lot of measuring and mixing now this part was fun.  To finish off our milkshakes we had Mrs Heka our teacher put chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Before we could drink our delicious milkshake we had to clean up our mess that we made. If we did not clean up properly we had to clean again. Once we cleaned up properly we got to try our master pieces. I found making the milkshakes kind of confusing because of all of the different measurements but I still thought that they were yum.
