Milk cartons at PBS

A few weeks ago Sky and I did something for Reduce, reuse and recycle. We have put information that we learnt from reading just one article and a you tube video Mrs Anderson showed us for inquiry.  This is what Sky and I got up to.

BEDMAS maths

Today for maths I did something called BEDMAS. What is BEDMAS you ask? Well to find out what Bed Mas is look at my DLO on my understanding of how to do BEDMAS and more. I found out different ways on how to do maths with this method. BEDMAS stands for brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. My DLO will show you my thinking and how I came up with the answer 32. Here is what I got up to.

Quad blogging with Grey Main School

This afternoon we did quad blogging with Grey Main School. I was commenting on A girl named Mya. She is a year 7 student as well. I have done my comment to the best of my ability. I commented on one of her blog posts that caught my eye. Mya is a beautiful girl that deserves a lot of attention.  So here is a link to Mya's blog. Have a look and you never know you might learn something new two.

Digital Technology Term 2

This morning we went to tech. We were very exited because we thought we were going to food tech but we ended up going to Digi tech which is also fun. We had a very enthusiastic teacher that went by the name Mrs Anderson. We made our own site, our own slide showing our work and more. Coming to the end of tech we played a game to help us on our building skills. Here is a picture on what I did.

First Certificate!

Today at assembly Harlem and I got an certificate for always being organised. I am very glad that I got a certificate because this is my first one this year. When I was going up to receive my certificate I was very scared and also really exited. This is a picture of me holding my certificate.

Respected leaders

In this you will see why Magenta and I chose Mia and Zahra for our respected leader DLO. We chose Mia because she is very caring and she helps anyone no matter what. We chose Zahra because she is also a very caring person  and she helps people no matter if they're a boy or girl. That is why Magenta and I chose Mia and Zahra as our respected leaders.

Aretha Franklin

Today Magenta, Sky and I were working on a DLO about Aretha Franklin's respect song. We learnt what the meaning of respect is and how to show it. In this DLO you will find out how old she is what school she went to and how many children she has. We have put a lot of effort into making this. Enjoy reading through a new dimension.

Dance

Today LS2 did dance. Brooklyn, Sky and I were a group together. We were find ways to make different shapes with our bodys. We adventured out by doing triangles, squares and more. We were having a great time exploring on what shape we should attempt to do next. We tried our best but we still had a fantastic time.

Read theory

This afternoon I did read theory. Read theory has helped me on my reading and my thinking skills. I have come along way from when I first introduced to read theory. Read theory helps children from around the world on reading and more! Did you know that you can also learn new facts from just one story. I like using this site in my spare time because I can learn things I have never come across before. I want to know have you ever used read theory?

Metaphor!

Today for writing I was working on a metaphor DLO. What is a metaphor you ask? A metaphor is a figure of speech in which word or phrase that is applied to an object or action. Now that you know what a metaphor is let me tell you how I found this task. I found this task hard, why you ask? Well I found this hard to complete because I had never came across the word metaphor before. This is what the final product looks like after I have finished. Enjoy reading through my information until next
time.

Paving maths!

Today for maths I did Paving maths. In my DLO you will find out what the question was and the strategy.  I have worked hard on the presentation and I have put a lot of effort into this. This was hard but as I got the hang of what to do. I really enjoyed completing this and very happy on what I have done

World of maths!

Yesterday afternoon LS1 and LS2 went to the hall to do something called World of maths. Charles was running the World of maths. What we did was we got into groups that were mixed between LS1 and LS2. We played a series of games relating to maths. The first game we played was Pattern plays. Pattern plays was my all time favourite. Why you ask? Well I liked that game because we had to use our addition and halving skills to be able to figure out what the last number on the board was going to be. I would like to thank Charles for setting up the World of maths. The World of maths was really fun and I hope to do it again.

Thank you Mr Oglive

Today Magenta, Sky and I wrote a thank you letter to Mr Oglive for coaching us in netball. We just wanted to say a huge thank you to him for setting this up. Magenta and Sky are also part of the netball team. We have worked a long time on this and put a lot of effort into making this.

More similes

Today for writing I did more similes. What is a simile you ask well a simile compares two things using the words 'like' or 'as'.  In my presentation you will see what a simile is Some other examples of a simile. For example she is as quiet as a mouse or he is as blind as a bat, these are all examples of what a simile looks like. I have tried my best and I also had a lot of fun creating this on my own.

Read Theory

This morning we did Read theory. Read theory is a website that helps you on your reading. On Read theory you will have to read through a story, when you have finished reading you will have to fill out questions relating to the story you just read. Some of the questions maybe something like what Luna's favourite colour or where was Sam hiding. Read theory is a good place you can go and read in your own time.

3D Graphics

This morning at tech we were drawing 3D shapes. We had to draw different types of shapes like cubes, crating, cuboid
and steps. To do our shape we had to use a grid paper called isometric grid paper. After we got the hang of doing 3D shapes we then had to learn the different kinds of shading. Mrs Ferguson taught us how to shape lightly and very dark. We had to challenge our self to shade in a cube with a normal pencil and a colouring pencil. The last task was to make a shadow for our cube we have created. The new word we learnt today were Shading, shadows, grid paper and 3D paper. Today was fun and I cant wait for next week.

Dance!

During the morning and middle block we did dance. For dance Mrs Anderson said we had to create our own warm up routine. My partner was Sky, we watched warm up videos to get some inspiration. Making up the moves was easy but doing the them was really tricky. Warming up and stretching before you have a sports event it can help you move a lot easier. But if you warm up and stretch to much you will lose some of your strength to do something. This was a very fun task to complete and cant wait till next week.

Making connections

About a week ago Mishaan, Magenta and I  did something called making connections. The story we read was when the wind blows. First we had to do text to text then we did text to world and the last one we had to do was text to text. Here is what we came up with.

Maths! Pizzas and things

Today I was working on my maths DLO. In this DLO you will see how I solved the answers and which strategies I used to find out what the answers were. These are two different  math problems that include halving and addition. This was a very interesting DLO to complete but it was still really fun to do.

Reduce, Reuse Recycle!

Yesterday afternoon Sky, Josh, Harlem, Zane and I worked on our Reduce, Reuse and Recycle DLO. We had to write about how New Zealanders throw away 3.6 million tonnes of rubbish every year. How did this make me feel? Well I have mixed emotions towards what I have read in. My question to you is what do you think we could do to make a change in how we use our rubbish?

Doubling and halving!

In the middle block we did maths. for maths we had to do something called doubling and halving. We had to double or halve a number. For example if I had to half 100 it would be 50 then I would half 50 which would make 25 and the nearest decimal number would be 12.5. Soon I will have my thinking up on my blog. This was tricky but still very fun.

Similes!

This morning for writing we did similes. A Simile compares two things using the words 'like' or 'as. We had to match the animals with the simile that best describes them. For example I'm as busy as bee or you are as quiet as a mouse. This was very hard to work out but I think I got the hang of it at the end.

Ivory ban in China

This afternoon I was working with Hajera to complete this DLO about current events. Our current event was about the Ivory ban in China. In our DLO you will find our prespectives on these articles. My opinion on the ivory trade in China is that they should stop. Because they will kill off the elephant species. The baby elephants will die of starvation. This is our thought on this article.

past, present and future

Today for writing we were learning about past, present and future tense. for example I broke something, this is broken and it will brake. these are all examples of past, present and future tenses. These are present tense words. Today's writing was interesting but still cool.
